Jacqueline Granado
Jacqueline Granado, known by her friends as Jackie, graduated from the Strome College of Business in May 2022 with her Master's in Business Administration (MBA). Granado took advantage of Strome's online program and completed classes remotely from Arizona. Due to her husband's military status and constantly relocating across the country, she needed a program that was flexible and affordable. That ultimately led her to the MBA program at Strome.

The Strome College of Business is filled with different students on unique paths. Sommer Alexander is amongst the non-traditional students who have earned their degree through a different journey than most.
Matthew Foster
"Why not go further?" is what recent Old Dominion graduate Matthew Foster asked himself in 2017 when he looked across campus after receiving his associates degree. For him, the road was longer than he anticipated. His college journey had not followed the traditional path that most students take, but now he is one of the best in his class.

Phi Kappa Phi Honoree | Class of 2020 | Finance and Business Analytics major
Every year, the ODU Chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi awards a scholarship to one student from each of the academic colleges and a distance learning student. Eligibility for the scholarship requires membership in PKP and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75. The 2020 PKP Scholarship recipient from the Strome College of Business is Saloni Jain.

In 2012 I began my journey at the Strome College of Business as an incoming sophomore transferring from TCC. I chose to major in finance due to my ever-increasing interest with business and investing at the time.

The spring 2020 semester began with all the usual challenges and excitement one would expect for any graduating senior. I do not think any of us could have expected or fully planned for the dramatic sequence of events that subsequently unfolded. This has truly been a trying semester for me with having to abruptly move off campus and transition to a completely online platform within a matter of days.

Angela Blue is the Editor-in- Chief of Coastal Virginia Magazine, CoVa BIZ, Savor Virginia and Coastal Virginia Bride. She's been employed at the publishing company, VistaGraphics, Inc., since 2010 and has been in her current role since 2015.

Jamayca "Jay" Madolid, graduating magna cum laude from Old Dominion University with a bachelor's degree in business management and a minor in business analytics, has always been ambitious.
"From a very early age, I've been a self-starter," Madolid said. "I grew up in a home where it was valued and emphasized to get things done before being asked."

This was the semester I decided to take two classes. As a full-time local government employee balancing my time is a daily challenge, but as I approached the half-way mark through my program, I thought I can do this! Mid-way through the semester the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Over these last six weeks, I have heard many people say we are all in this together and we are not alone, but it is not like that. We are all in the same storm, but not in the same boat. We each have our own perceptions and needs.
